an interesting BASE question (in an ethical sense)

I just read Tom's post about how he showed Cliff Huck Stable, a site (a factoid still unsubstantiated).

It appeared that the point he was trying to make was that unless you found the site yourself, you shouldn't do any sitenaming (a modern day evil of catostrophic consequences).

hhhmmmm. Well, Frank Gambali showed me where the Power Tower is in Rio Vista,(from Lodi go 12 West and turn left at the light just before the drawbridge, make a right into windy cove drive and you're there.) Does that mean I owe it to his memory not to name it and dayblaze it? Or should I just not do that anyway?

by the way the only person who takes the time and energy, year after year, to go up to Lover's Leap in Strawberry and make a kicker is Cliff Huckstable.

Don't worry guys...I've already been reprimanded.

I've been told that proper sitenaming etiquite requires ALL CAPS

A mistake I won't make again in the future.

An interesting factoid of history:
As a local of South Lake Tahoe, I knew about Lover's Leap 5 years before Tom ever made his first skydive. The word about Lover's Leap was out long before Tom showed up on the scene.

I think Aiello would need to have opened the site to own it. Or at least to have jumped it. Couldnt say definitively, but Ive never seen Aiellos skill level to be high enough for lovers leap. But given the number of times he has seriously injured himself directly as a consequence of his own poor judgement, I could be wrong... he may have both opened it and jumped it...Wink

Just speaking from a historical point of view, it was opened long before Tom A ever jumped a parachute from anything (airplane or fixed object).

Re: [jimmyh] an interesting BASE question (in an ethical sense)

I opened the stairwell from the second to first floor of my house when I was 2. I'm pretty sure that was before Tom was born.

I'd give explicit directions to it, but I've long since forgotten where it is. I'd tell you how to do it, but I'm sure everyone here is too big to fit into one of those little walker thingies that I was in when I took the big dive (twice). Plus I was knocked unconscious so I don't really remember how I did it.

So sorry gang, guess that object stays mine and mine alone.

Re: [jimmyh] an interesting BASE question (in an ethical sense)

Tom,
I understand that your alittle bitter that I'm posting under a different name but locking out the thread and telling a blatant lie???! What's up with that? I thought you could do better than that!
For the record:
Tom Aiello did NOT tell me how to find that exit point. This is a complete lie! He is confusing me with either someone else or his own warped memory.
From the pictures we have of Frank jumping it, Miles and I found that exit point ENTIRELY on our own.
Tom if you have to resort to complete lie's to get the last word then it is pretty sad.
Now please do the right thing and atleast apologize or let this new thread be seen.
Shane

Re: [hucklberry] an interesting BASE question (in an ethical sense)

I have to admit that the site naming thing can be quite ridiculous at times. In one thread, people are telling you where to jump in Thailand. But in the next thread, a legal base event site is edited out and the poster is reprimanded. Should I be nervous about posting the site for Bridge Day, since it's illegal to jump 364.25 days of the year?

Tom is a bit uneven in his application of "the rules", which on the one hand seem so important to him, but which he demonstrably hypocritically applies, a fact which lends itself to the "cliquish" reputation often attributed to base zone. Toms friends ride, enemies and regular folk are held to a different standard. But this is the Tom Aiello channel. If its your website, well, than its your website...

Curious how the independent and free nature of base jumpers is so easily bottled up and controlled by the whims and moods of a single individual.

Don't worry Clif, Tom himself uses multiple user names... He can't possibly get upset about you doing it after him.

BTW Jason, I know its your Bridge Day and all, but your bridge is illegal 364.75 days a year. Except for leap years.

well, JT Holmes is PB1..
that is permanantly banned 1 the first ever in the world. WHo is gonna be number 2? I am sure it won't be dexterbase he might earn ZOTA 1 (zit on Tom's Ass) 1.... what an ass kisser.

TOm is just bitter because he doesnt have any of his own objects. Jimmy youve got your antenna, (WALNUT GROVE/ CADALAC) and your power tower, Shanes got a ski base named LOVERS LEAP, a cable car and a bridge known as FORRESTHILL.

JT had a bridge, but gave it Miles after setting the world record for longest delay completed with Anus still intact...

Jimmy,
don't forget about the freestander in Ripon (just south of Lodi off of hwy 99, use the Ripon exit) I think Frank was hitting that thing way before the police put up they're cool littel cameras...... wait.. was it Northgate? you know right there off of I-80 and NORTHGATE exit! well, hmm.. it might have been it's sister tower (KCRA news channel 3) which would be just north of downtown sacramento. right next to the rail yard.
I don't know, there are to many damm towers around here! fucking things are everywhere.

Re: [hucklberry] an interesting BASE question (in an ethical sense)

Good point about those towers I get them confused sometimes too. That's alright everyone of them has been getting a little hot lately so now I'm recommending The TWIN CITIES tower to most people.

going on I-5 north, pass by the Wlanut Grove exit and take the next one...Twin Cities.

Go West for about five miles and there's the white one on the right, I mean left. Since it doesn't get jumped as much as "cadillac" or "my Antenna" you shouldn't have any problems.

JT, well, since he is a profesional athlete, he just might be out of the country doing what he gets paid to do. He's an asshole too anyway so fuck him. he's dead.

Good idea,

except I seem to recall that the first time there was ever any trouble with the WALNUT GROVE NATENNA a.k.a. Jon Agnos' antenna,

was when TOM AIELLO did exactly that.

he broke in, got the key, had a gazillion made, put the original back (what for I have no idea)

and passed them out as I believe we refered to it as

"Hey, please be my friend gifts."

It seemed to have worked for him so I'll try to get some made for the TWIN CITIES ANTENNA as soon as I can.
